Nepal Electricity Authority Partners with Kathmandu University Technical Training Center for Smart Metering Training

In a significant initiative to enhance the technical skills of its workforce, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has entered into a contract with the Kathmandu University Technical Training Center (KU-TTC). The partnership, formalized on July 30, 2024 (2081/04/15), focuses on providing specialized training in smart metering and net metering technologies to female electrical engineers from NEA, under the aegis of the Project to Develop the Electricity Efficiency Program (PTDEEP).

The Social Safeguard and Environment Management Department (SSEMD) of NEA, represented by its officials, and KU-TTC have outlined a comprehensive training program designed to equip participants with advanced skills in smart metering. This program aims to enhance the technical expertise of NEA’s female engineers, focusing on modern metering technologies. The contract stipulates that all activities must be completed within four months of the agreement’s execution, with the contract remaining effective until all requirements are fulfilled.

This partnership marks a significant step towards NEA’s mission of fostering a more inclusive work environment by empowering female engineers with critical skills in emerging technologies. Both parties expressed their commitment to ensuring the success of this initiative, which is expected to pave the way for more women to take up technical roles in the energy sector.

The training program not only aims to enhance the technical competencies of the participants but also to inspire more women to pursue careers in engineering and technology. This initiative is a testament to NEA’s dedication to promoting gender equality and building a diverse and skilled workforce for the future.
